Hi, my name is Courtney Peña, and I am an English Communications Arts and Visual Communication Design graduate from St. Mary's University. Since high school, I have loved writing and journalism, but I found my passion for multimedia in college during Media Production and Video Production I.
My writing and journalism skills advanced when I was a senior writer for the StMU Research Scholars and published three articles. One of my articles won Best in Communications and another one won Best in Gender and was the runner up for Best in Social History. I was also a staff writer for The Rattler and had published lifestyle articles about mental health, recycling, and fashion.
With a 3.96 GPA, academics have always been my number one priority. After my first semester on campus, I was listed under the StMU Dean’s List with High Honors. Now, I am listed under the StMU Dean’s List with Highest Honors. Outside of class, I was a mentor in Emerging Leaders, the historian of For the Animals, worked on the St. Mary's University Theology series, "Why Does Theology Matter?" worked part-time with KSAT as the Big Game Coverage Assistant, worked as a Marketing Intern for IDEA Public Schools, and was a member of the Marianist Leadership Program
After graduating in Fall 2022, I will earn my master’s, work in the multimedia field, and then become a professor in Communications.

Throughout the Fall 2022 semester, I was able to work on a Networking Module and obtain a networking badge. I used this new knowledge at the IRTS Multicultural Career Workshop.
